After a gorgeous day sailing we found a bench under a twinkly tree in front of a grassy field where I could watch my barefoot children run circles at twilight. The best of a summer evening.

No such thing as too many flowers.

  Grab a kid, find a spot, snuggle up, talk until the sound of the water and the rocking of the boat put you both to sleep. Quality time with my oldest- only a moment a sailboat can give you.

This little port town was tiny, quaint, and loaded with charm. This beautiful little building above is an ice-cream store in the evening and then serves the most delicious breakfast in the morning.

Are we crazy for taking our two young girls and 10 month on a sailboat for a week? Maybe, but these sailing memories, well there aren’t any better ones, period.  And even though the baby won’t remember a thing… the boat naps and baby sea legs will always be part of his formation.

Stay tuned… people might be jumping ship.

A cloudy afternoon spent at the Bird Sanctuary on Long Boat Key. What a  wonderful place with a meaningful message for the kids about nature, love, compassion, kindness and being environmentally conscious.

Rescue, heal, release and if the birds injuries are too severe they have a forever home at the sanctuary…

Like this gorgeous guy- whose wing was too severely injured, by a car, to be released back into the wild. He will now be cared for by the sanctuary for the rest of his life.

We also saw this whacky ass mama bird…. they can’t fix crazy so she’ll be released back into the wild shortly.
